BOWLING GREEN, KY-Dana Matukas, IOM, partnership development director for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, has graduated from the Institute for Organization Management, an intensive four-year nonprofit leadership program through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at the University of Georgia-Athens.

"Dana is an outstanding leader within our Chamber," said Chamber President and CEO James N. Hizer, CEcD. "She is integral to our team because of her leadership in various programs and activities for our President's Club and for our more than 1,300 partners. Her creativity and marketing skills, along with her diligence and strong work ethic, provide great contributions to our Chamber team and to the partnership at large.

"By spending four years in the Institute program, Dana has enhanced her abilities and performance within our organization through the tools and resources she gained each summer in Athens," Hizer continued. "Receiving an IOM designation is not a small feat, and Dana has shown commitment and drive throughout the entire process. Her accomplishment is a source of pride for the Chamber."

For more than 80 years, associations and chambers have used the U.S. Chamber's Institute as a training platform for the professional development of their future leaders.  Participants receive training in leadership and organization management competencies, as well as follow targeted curricula in membership, technology and financial management. Students not only enhance their own organizational management skills through a combination of required courses and electives, but also add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.

Chamber Board of Directors Chairman Doug Gorman congratulated Dana for her achievement at the Chamber's Coffee Hour on Friday, June 27. "Dana is a tremendous asset to the Chamber, and we're very proud of her. She's a leader in our organization."

"We're very proud and fortunate to have Dana as the partnership development director for our Chamber," added Hizer.

Graduates of Institute receive the IOM recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in association, chamber, and nonprofit management. "IOM graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their communities" said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, vice president, Institute, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "These individuals have the knowledge, skills, and dedication to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries."

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
