BOWLING GREEN, KY-The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors adopted a resolution passed by the Legislative Action Committee opposing the proposed move of the Scottsville Road U.S. Postal Service Processing & Distribution Center to Nashville during their monthly meeting yesterday.

The resolution affirms that it is a Chamber priority to afford employment opportunities to citizens of South Central Kentucky and a move such as the one proposed would reduce employment in the region. In addition to adopting this resolution, the Chamber has mobilized its Grass Roots Network to share the Chamber's position with local, state and federal legislators.

Chamber Chairman Todd Davis, who signed the resolution, said, "We oppose the move of this facility to Nashville because of the potential detriments to our region, particularly the loss of jobs."

Chamber Vice President of Property Development and Public Policy R. Marc Elliott, CEcD, AICP agreed. "The Chamber is very concerned about the possible decrease in our service that might be reflected in the proposed closing of the distribution center."
