BOWLING GREEN, KY-The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has earned three more awards to add to its list of accomplishments for 2009. After recently being named the top Chamber in the nation within its size category by the American Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber has been acknowledged by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives (KCCE) for its website, 2008 Chamber Celebration Day and newsletter.

"KCCE was proud to recognize Bowling Green Area Chamber for their outstanding achievements of this past year.  Competition in all the categories was tough," commented Ali Crain, ACE, IOM, executive director of KCCE. The Chamber competed against larger chambers including Greater Louisville, Inc.; Commerce Lexington, Inc. and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for these awards.

"2009 has been an amazing and memorable year for the Chamber and community!" said Tonya Matthews, ACE, IOM, Chamber vice president operations. "Even though I expected our Chamber would have a good chance at several of the top awards, I was surprised when we took every award in our division."

Since the complete redesign of www.bgchamber.com in spring 2008, the Chamber has strived to make the website easy to utilize and navigate for partners and the public. Jessica M.L. Thompson, communications director, said, "From the Buyer's Guide to our Facebook fan page, we are continually making efforts to interact and connect, and I'm thrilled that our hard work has been recognized!"

"We're pleased to receive recognition by our KCCE peers," agreed Chamber President and CEO James N. Hizer, CEcD. "We are honored anytime that we are ranked favorably when measured against like-size chambers."

With partnership appreciation always at a forefront of the Chamber's efforts, it is an honor for the 2008 Chamber Celebration Day to be named a KCCE award-winning event. The day's message spanned across the region and beyond, as Chamber partners joined together and promoted the long list of recent Chamber accomplishments. Live radio remotes were on site, provided by WAY-FM, WCVK, WUHU, WOVO, WPTQ 103 The Point and 100.7 SAM FM. Bruster's served ice cream to those who visited the Chamber to join in the festivities.

The final award received by the Chamber was Best Newsletter for the Chamber Connection, which provides the Chamber's more than 1,300 partners with valuable information about Chamber events and programs, economic development successes and exposure opportunities.

"Our Chamber staff works very hard to provide excellent programs, materials and events for our 1,300+ partners. Without their expertise, and the support of our board, Ambassadors and volunteers, such recognition would not be possible," said Chamber Chairman Todd Davis. "We're grateful for everyone's continued support and proud to be earning recognition among our peers in the Commonwealth."

Incorporated in 1935, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the 2009 Chamber of the Year, as named by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. As one of only 336 chambers nationwide to be accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the fourth largest chamber in Kentucky, the Chamber serves as a premier business advocate for its more than 1,300 partners and is the driving force for economic development in South Central Kentucky. Its primary goals are to promote growth and success in the business community, reaching its small business partners and those in large industries alike. With leadership programs, governmental relations projects, educational initiatives and involvement opportunities, the Chamber aims to support the community and its neighbors in order to enhance the business climate and continue to grow the region.
