BOWLING GREEN, KY-In support of its legislative action efforts, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Legislative Wrap-Up today. Kentucky State Representatives Jim DeCesare, Jody Richards and Wilson Stone, along with State Senator Mike Reynolds were the speakers for the event, which included breakfast provided by Mrs. Winner's.

The wrap-up, coordinated by the Chamber's Legislative Action Committee, provided Chamber partners with a face-to-face meeting with state legislators. Each legislator provided a summary of key bills that will affect the South Central Kentucky region. The topics they addressed included education reform, economic development, agriculture, road plans and cyber crime.

Todd Davis, 2009 chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors, was pleased with the event. "We're very grateful that Representatives DeCesare, Richards and Stone, and Senator Reynolds, were willing to speak to our Chamber partners today. They provided insight into the work that was completed during this session and what will continue to be done in the special session, should it be called."

The legislators took questions from the crowd after they finished their presentations. One question that arose was how the local community can help the legislators better represent the region. The consensus among Representatives DeCesare, Richards and Stone, and Senator Reynolds, was that this community shows excellent support for their work in Frankfort by sharing opinions and providing input into proposed legislation. Representative Richards said, "This community does a great job of keeping us informed about what is important to them."

Insight Communications recorded the Legislative Wrap-up and will air it on Insight Channel 5.
The Legislative Wrap-up will be replayed at the following times:

  • Thursdays, April 23 and April 30, at 9:30 a.m.
  • Fridays, April 24 and May 1, at 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays, April 25 and May 2, at 12:30 p.m.

  • Tuesdays, April 28 and May 5, at 9:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, April 29 and May 6, at 2:30 p.m.
