BOWLING GREEN, KY - In celebration of Volunteer Appreciation Month, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes its many volunteers for their support of the organization.
Last year approximately 62 million Americans volunteered around 8 billion hours of their time to community service projects. In the local community volunteers dedicate themselves to not only helping those in need, but also to improving the quality of life for all South Central Kentucky residents.
The Chamber is one of the many organizations that benefits from volunteer efforts. "Our Chamber has achieved national recognition in large part due to our more than 300 volunteers who dedicate thousands of hours each year to our efforts. When we were recognized as one of the Top Three Chambers in the Nation by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives last year, that honor was because of our volunteers and the support that they give us," said Tonya Matthews, IOM, ACE, vice president of Chamber operations.
Pooling our volunteers' talent and dedication creates results that truly have an impact on our community," said Program Director Beth Oliphant. "From volunteering at the Chamber Golf Challenge to serving on our board or in our Ambassadors Club, our volunteers make a difference, and our appreciation for our volunteers extends well beyond Volunteer Appreciation Month."
Chamber President & CEO James N. Hizer agreed. ""I am always amazed at the generosity of our volunteers. Our board, Ambassadors, committee members and other volunteers are the life-blood of our organization. It is through their support and commitment to our core mission that we have been able to maintain such a high level of success and recognition."
The Chamber extends its sincerest gratitude and appreciation to all who have volunteered their time for the betterment of the community and the Chamber. The success of this organization is a direct result of volunteers who strive to create a better community for all.
"As this year's board chairman, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that volunteers have not only on the Chamber but also on South Central Kentucky. It is important that we recognize those who donate their time and energy in an effort to make our organization a success," said Todd Davis.
