BOWLING GREEN, KY-The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives (KCCE) awarded Tonya L. Matthews, vice president of chamber operations for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the Accredited Chamber Certification (ACE) at their fall conference in Louisville, Ky. The ACE professional certification recognizes the professional competence and expertise attainted by chamber of commerce professionals in the state of Kentucky.

"Congratulations on earning the designation of Kentucky Accredited Chamber Executive (ACE).  This is the only professional certification offered to chamber professionals in Kentucky. The ACE is a significant accomplishment and serves as a stepping-stone to the Certified Chamber Executive designation offered nationally by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives," said Aaron Cox, executive director for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives.

"Tonya's professional accomplishments, as well as her contributions to her community and the chamber industry as a whole, set her apart as an excellent leader and chamber executive in the state of Kentucky.  Tonya's receipt of this designation demonstrates that she is a shining star in the chamber profession and an asset to the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce contributing at this high level," said KCCE Board President 2008 Dorothy White.

Matthews is also a 2007 graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management. She is serving her twelfth year at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, in her third position.

"We are fortunate to have Tonya on our Chamber team. She is a talented, driven individual who understands the value our organization gives to the community," said James N. Hizer, CEcD, Chamber president and CEO.

Doug Gorman, chairman of the 2008 Chamber Board of Directors, agreed. "Tonya is an incredible asset to the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce because of her experience and her desire to make our organization thrive."

Incorporated in 1935, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is the driving force for economic development in South Central Kentucky. As one of only 336 chambers nationwide to be accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the fourth largest chamber in Kentucky, the Chamber serves as a premier business advocate for its more than 1,300 partners. Its primary goals are to promote growth and success in the business community, reaching its small business partners and those in large industries alike. With leadership programs, governmental relations projects, educational initiatives and involvement opportunities, the Chamber aims to support the community and its neighbors in order to enhance the business climate and continue to grow the region.
