BOWLING GREEN, KY-The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce named Jason Rose as the recipient of the 2008 Bart Hagerman Leadership Award on Thursday, November 20, at the 2008 Leadership Bowling Green graduation ceremony.
The Hagerman Award is the top honor bestowed upon a graduating member of the Leadership Bowling Green program, and the recipient is selected by a vote of his or her classmates. The 2007 recipient, Debby Peeples, commercial sales and leasing agent with Neal Turner Realty Commercial and Industrial Brokerage, presented the award to Rose.
Rose is the branch manager at U.S. Bank's Northgate Office in Bowling Green, joining the company four years ago after working as a branch manager at National City Bank. He is a lifelong resident of Bowling Green, having graduated from Warren East High School and Western Kentucky University.
Rose is currently a board member for Junior Achievement of South Central KY and a member of the Allocations Committee for United Way of Southern Kentucky. He is a past member of the Kiwanis Club and of the Recruitment Committee for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. He is an alum of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Western Kentucky University.
"I am honored to receive this award," said Rose. "It's very humbling to know that my classmates view me as a leader and that they chose to recognize me with the Hagerman Award. I've had a great experience in Leadership Bowling Green, and my memories of the program will remain with me for years to come."
The Hagerman Award is named for Bart Hagerman who served as the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce's chamber executive from 1983 to 1986. Hagerman initiated the first leadership program for Chamber members in Kentucky while he worked as the assistant chamber executive at the Ashland (Ky.) Chamber of Commerce; that program became known as Leadership Ashland. He brought the program to Bowling Green when he accepted the chamber executive position, and he selected the first Leadership Bowling Green class in 1984.
"Jason was a real asset to the LBG class this year," said Lisa Dunn, chair of the 2008 Leadership Bowling Green program and Human Resources generalist at U.S. Bank. "He is an excellent leader who exemplifies what the Hagerman Award represents."
Applications for entrance into the 2009 Leadership Bowling Green class will be available online at www.bgchamber.com beginning January 2, 2009. The application deadline will be 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009. For more information, contact Jennifer Breiwa at 270-781-3200.
