BOWLING GREEN, KY-The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that the Mr. Sung Duck Oh will be the region's representative in South Korea. As the exclusive representative of South Central Kentucky in South Korea, Mr. Oh will promote the region to businesses looking to locate in the United States.
"More and more South Korean companies are looking to directly invest in the United States," said James N. Hizer, CEcD, Chamber president and CEO. "It's important that we expand our presence in South Korea. Our relationship with Mr. Oh will help us to achieve this goal. He has already been in contact with prospective investors who are interested in our region."
Mr. Oh will actively seek prospective investors in the South Korean market for South Central Kentucky, and he will serve as a point of contact for South Korean companies wanting information about the United States.
"Mr. Oh is an outstanding asset for South Central Kentucky," said Hizer. "As an exclusive representative for our region, his knowledge and background will be very beneficial for us as we look to recruit more South Korean business to our region."

Mr. Oh brings a broad range of engineering and marketing knowledge to this partnership, as well as extensive experience in manufacturing. He has worked as facility maintenance manager for Control Data Korea and as sales engineer and Asian market manager for Zamil Steel Building Company. He was named the director of the State of Indiana Korea Office in 1994. Since that assignment, he has managed various trade shows and seminars for Indiana companies, which have resulted in direct investment by Korean manufacturers.
He served as the chairman of the Association of American State Offices in Korea from 2002 to 2003.
Mr. Oh is a graduate of the Korean Naval Academy, having spent 18 years of service in the Navy. He also completed one year of training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill., in 1959. He left the Navy as a commander in 1970. He was an instructor for the Korean Armed Forces Staff College and has also completed postgraduate work in international trade at Yonsei University in Seoul.
Hizer said that this partnership will create a stronger connection to South Korea and will enhance opportunities for South Korean business leaders and investors to visit the South Central Kentucky region. "We're very grateful to Mr. Oh for agreeing to represent South Central Kentucky in South Korea," said Hizer. "We look forward to a long, successful partnership with him."
