Chamber Presents Vote 2008 Candidate Forums

BOWLING GREEN, KY-In support of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce's efforts for legislative action, the Chamber will host candidate forums for the community beginning Thursday, October 9.


The Chamber's Legislative Action Committee, along with Insight Communications and WBKO, is proud to present these forums at Bowling Green Junior High School according to the schedule below. The public is welcome to attend all forums.

  • Vote 2008: The Mayoral Race - October 9 - 7 p.m.
  • Vote 2008: The U.S. Congressional Race - October 9 - 8 p.m.
  • Vote 2008: The City Commission Race - October 14 - 7 p.m.
  • Vote 2008: The State Representative 21st District Race - October 20 - 7 p.m.


The Legislative Action Committee, which is chaired by Chamber Board of Directors Chair-Elect Todd Davis, organized these forums to give the community an opportunity to learn more about the candidates who are running in this year's local, state and national elections.


"The Chamber understands that people want to hear what the candidates support and what those candidates, if elected, will do to help our community," said Davis. "These forums at Bowling Green Junior High give the public that opportunity."


James N. Hizer, CEcD, Chamber President and CEO, agreed. ""Part of the Chamber's mission is to advocate for a positive business environment in South Central Kentucky. By hosting forums for candidates in this year's elections, we're providing an opportunity for the entire community to learn more about these candidates' platforms and how they will support the economic climate within our region if elected."


Each forum with be recorded and aired on Insight Channel 5, WBKO-ABC and WBKO-Fox. "The Chamber thanks Insight and WBKO for supporting these candidate forums and for giving us a chance to air the forums on their stations," said Davis.


The forums will be shown on television according to the following schedule:

  • Monday, October 20 - 6 p.m - Insight Channel 5
  • Tuesday, October 28 - 9 p.m. - Insight Channel 5


Vote 2008: The U.S. Congressional Race

  • Sunday, October 12 - 1 p.m. - WBKO-ABC
  • Tuesday, October 14 - 7:30 p.m. - Insight Channel 5
  • Wednesday, October 22 - 6:30 p.m. - Insight Channel 5
  • Saturday, November 1 - 11 a.m. - Insight Channel 5


Vote 2008: The City Commission Race

  • Tuesday, October 14 - 9:30 p.m. - WBKO-Fox
  • Saturday, October 18 - 1 p.m. - Insight Channel 5
