BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the third annual South Central Kentucky Job Fair & Business Exhibition will be held on Tuesday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Greenwood Mall located at 2625 Scottsville Road in Bowling Green.

"We at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce are committed to the businesses of South Central Kentucky," said Dan Preston, Chamber Vice President, Economic Development. "The Job Fair & Business Exhibition is designed to further this commitment by aiding residents in their job searches and providing existing businesses with a venue in which to expand their employee and customer bases."

Representatives from leading businesses and industries from the surrounding South Central Kentucky region will be present at the Job Fair & Business Exhibition to speak with community members and potential jobseekers. The event also features free health screenings provided by The Medical Center Health & Wellness Center, the entrance to which is located on the front of Greenwood Mall between Lifeway Book Store and Dillard's (outside entrance only).

Businesses can register as event booth sponsors to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to recruit prospective employees, advertise job opportunities, and meet other local business owners. Presenting booth sponsorships are $300; basic booth sponsorships are $150. All registrations will include a networking breakfast with other participating employers and lunch for two company representatives. Registration is available at www.southcentralky.com/jobfair and is open until Friday, September 12. Registrations made after September 1 will be subject to a $50 late fee.

The Job Fair & Business Exhibition is a collaborative effort among Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren counties, along with the Barren River Area Development District (BRADD), the Barren River Workforce Investment Board, the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM), and the Southern Kentucky Society of Human Resource Management (SKY-SHRM).

George Leamon, director of the Barren River Workforce Investment Board at BRADD, said, "The Job Fair & Business Exhibition presents an excellent opportunity for residents of our region to explore new career paths and for business owners from the region to network and grow their businesses."

"We support the South Central Kentucky Job Fair & Business Exhibition because we are committed to assisting residents of the region in finding successful careers in manufacturing," said Marty Kish, vice president of marketing and revenue for KAM. "This is a great event for us to help manufacturers and jobseekers meet and develop relationships."

"This event attracts a large number of participants, more than 400 last year alone," said Greg Jones, president of SKY-SHRM. "It is a collaborative effort for our entire region that reaches many residents, and SKY-SHRM supports the event because we understand the impact it makes on our community."

This is the third year for the Job Fair & Business Exhibition. The first annual event in 2006 was recognized by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives (KCCE), a not-for-profit division of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, as best special event.  KCCE is the professional society of chamber of commerce executives, staff and affiliate members from allied professions in Kentucky, which aims to serve its membership by providing high-quality development, networking, resource, and idea-exchange opportunities.

Incorporated in 1935, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce is the driving force for economic development in South Central Kentucky. As one of only 336 chambers nationwide to be accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the fourth largest chamber in Kentucky, the Chamber serves as a premier business advocate for its more than 1,300 partners. Its primary goals are to promote growth and success in the business community, reaching its small business partners and those in large industries alike. With leadership programs, governmental relations projects, educational initiatives and involvement opportunities, the Chamber aims to support the community and its neighbors in order to enhance the business climate and continue to grow the region.
