BOWLING GREEN, KY-Ron Bunch, CEcD, president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has been elected to the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED) Board of Directors for a three-year term. His appointment was announced at KAED's Annual Conference in Paducah, Ky., this week.
"Ron's appointment to this Board of Directors is a testament to his professionalism in economic development and his commitment to fully represent South Central Kentucky to targeted businesses and economic development professionals," said 2011 Chamber Board of Directors Chairman Rodney Rogers. "We commend Ron on the achievements that he has made during his short time at the Chamber."
As an organization, KAED works with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce to market the Commonwealth's economic development assets. KAED leads the Kentucky United program, which gives its members the opportunity to meet and interact with site selectors and investors worldwide. As the only organization to market Kentucky in this way, KAED consists of more than 350 economic development and service industry professionals.
"KAED promotes economic development and growth in Kentucky, and our Board of Directors oversees these efforts so that we can be effective in marketing our assets on a local, statewide and international level. We're pleased to have Ron join our Board of Directors and confident that his extensive experience will bring many contributions to our organization," Mike Mangeot, KAED president and CEO, said.
Prior to assuming his role at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, Bunch held economic development roles in three states. While the executive director of the Business Development Board of Martin County, Fla., he was appointed to the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC) Board of Directors. FEDC is a primary resource for policy development, legislative updates, education, networking and professional advancement in Florida. When he was in South Carolina, he also served on the South Carolina Economic Developers' Association (SCEDA) Board of Directors, the state's professional trade association for economic developers. The KAED Board of Directors appointment represents the third statewide economic development professional association board seat held by Bunch.
"I'm honored to be elected to serve on KAED's Board of Directors during this very challenging economy in Kentucky and the nation. This organization plays an important role in shaping economic development efforts in Kentucky, and I'm eager to be a part of KAED's decision-making body as we help improve the economy," said Bunch.
Since joining the Chamber in January 2011, Bunch has joined several statewide organizations' Board of Directors: the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Japan-America Society of Kentucky, and the Indo-Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, he was elected to serve on the Kentucky Association for Economic Development Board of Directors. In 2011, the Chamber has participated in five economic development announcements, which will create 773 jobs and an investment of more than $168 million in South Central Kentucky.
